How much do pigs eat? I get leftover produce from a guy and my chickens can't go through it all - but I don't know if it would be enough for a pig either.

And if there is enough variety in the produce can they be raised 100% one grass and scraps (I am interested in Kunekune's)?

Sorry, I barely know anything about pigs. Thanks for any info!

I feed my Pigs Produce waste and alfalfa pellets and now trying Beet pulp with the weanlings.
If theres some variety in the produce for the vitamins and protein then you should be fine. I get my produce waste from Grocery stores and fruits stands. I then sterilize it by cooking it for thirty minutes in a boil, making a stew of sorts but make sure if you do this that it cools down as Pigs mouths are sensitive.

Doesn't boiling it remove most of the nutritional value - I understand why it's done, but is it counter productive?

Legally if you are feeding waste food then you have to boil it. Some of us accidentally spill the box of "compost" in the goat pen but that is purely by accident.

Tech it should all be heated for 30 min. If you are feeding a pelleted feed then you are already feeding heat treated food. And 80% of the food people eat has been heated. The law is not differentiating between produce, breads, dairy or meat so it goes for the kill time required and says 30 min at x temperature.

This prevents things like contagious diseases being passed along in raw meat.

I don't feed them meat. Just past due Produce from stores and old bread. Most of it is still perfectly edible but the stores can't sell it.
I started boiling some of the veggies after the E-coli outbreaks in spinach and other things. I don't cook any fruits I get unless they are filthy.
