Thank you. I believe the Black Rosecombs have no standard variety, only bantams. They were decent egg producers. Miney went broody, and was on her nest in a wire cage when the others were killed. Their heads and entrails were gone, and it horrified me so that I swore I'd do better protecting them in the future.Brings back memories... My dad raised Black Rosecomb bantams, mom had Black Tailed White Japanese bantams, sister had White Leghorn bantams... brothers didn't have any long enough to count... I had SC Light Brown Leghorns and SC Dark Brown Leghorns large fowl to start... after the initial flock of "laying hens" as a 4-Her and some cornish rock crosses for meat... My ex had/has OE Game bantams and some large fowl... I dabbled in some cochin bantams, then some Black Langshan bantams... and the Large Fowl New Hampshires...
Your Rosecombs look nice...
That's how mild our winters are. Still, it surprised me as well. I was ready to improve that bed - alfalfa, compost and more dirt - well that will have to wait.I’m all caught up! Love the chicken pictures and squash from your garden.
@SageHill im amazed that your trombincino squash survived all winter and is growing all over again for you!
