Something's wrong with Abigail's right wing, she's letting it hang low, but not dragging. I picked her up, gently opened and closed the wing, no reaction, but when I touched her shoulder joint she squawked.

I assume there's not much that can be done, just watch her and let it heal on its own.

Looking good. Your iris' you planted are not yet thriving. Amazing that the neighbor hasn't touched their part of the yard in 19 years!!
The lot next to me has not had anything done to it, no site work or anything, since 1970. It slopes down, away from my yard. The water table here is quite high, and I've wondered if there was just too much site work needed to make building on it feasible.

The iris I planted last year by the driveway are finally taking off, three of them actually bloomed. I may need to amend the soil more. My day lilies do better, the iris are just slower.

This afternoon I mowed the north side and front yard before more storms rolled in. I even tackled the :somad:rantslope some, after I noticed that the water meter was buried in weeds (see red flag). The slope was overgrown all the way to those little white fences just to the left of the flag, so I did about 4'.

Glad you enjoyed the tour. I keep seeing things that should be tackled, soon.

Heat is forecast to arrive in a week...90s. Oh well. I've enjoyed the extended Spring weathet.

I made a mistake, it's TAMAR with the drooping wing.

I saw her making strange neck movements, and opening and shutting her beak this morning, so in case there's a crop issue starting I prepared some slippery elm bark. I went back out to the coop, managed to corner Tamar, and wrap her in a bath towel so I could syringe the SEB into her mouth. Silas took exception to this, and made noises of displeasure. I checked her crop, which did not feel full or squishy. I took my time, putting the solution in her beak in little dabs so as not to choke her.

Just as I was about to release her she squawked, and Silas launched at me and flogged my legs! No harm done. I looked at him and said quietly "What do you think you are doing?" and he backed away, looking confused. I released Tamar, who ran to the back of the coop.

He's never flogged me before. Since it didn't achieve anything he might not try it again. I did remind him that roosters who don't behave can wind up like Samuel 🪦!

I then retrieved a large cracker, sat back down in the chair, and crumbled it. Silas, Abigail, and Esther ran over and greedily started eating the cracker crumbs from my hands. Tamar remained behind the wheelbarrow, occasionally making soft bok bok noises.

Naomi stayed in the nesting box.

Later in the afternoon I made deviled eggs for a church lunch tomorrow, had some extra hardboiled whites, so I ground them up and gave them to the flocks. Tamar joined the others and seemed a bit more like her usual self.

Naomi is still in the nesting box, sitting on one plastic egg.
