Church was good. We had a quartet sing a number of gospel songs before the preaching. At the lunch afterwards my deviled eggs went quickly, so I know to bring those again.

Back at home...Tamar's wing is still low, but aside from some "bok bok" chatter, she's acting normal. I will continue to watch her.

Naomi was out in the run this morning, giving herself a thorough dirt bath. When I checked later in the afternoon she was back in the box. And there was a huge 💩 just inside the coop door. She's been on the nest three full days. I think I will slip a couple eggs under her, maybe tonight. Maybe 3. 4?
:D =D

The Sussex are in fine spirits, chattering, digging holes all over the run. After I finished mowing (most of) the backyard I gave their waterer a good scrubbing with vinegar, refilled with fresh hose water. They had to check it out immediately, silly birds!

Kentucky trip is T minus 13 days and counting...

Put at least 6 under her, make it worth both your times. Good chance to use the purebred eggs 👍

Sussex eggs, last 4 days.

Those are the egg holders I bought at the swap!

Day four, Naomi is still brooding the plastic egg. I put in front of her a Sussex egg I'd just gathered, and Naomi slid it underneath her. I have five more Sussex eggs from the last three days that I will slide under her tonight, and pull out the plastic one.

I sure hope Zaccheus is fertile...

Monday

Out to the gardens after a long, stressful day at work.

Gardenia is blooming :love

One of the Columbines is coming back!

Last week I bought two clematis at the grocery store, marked down. I opened their packaging, then laid the root balls in a saucer of water. There was definite leaf and root growth displayed in one of them, today, so I planted it close to another clematis. I added a bugleweed sprout in front.

Can you see the clematis, directly in front of a dead stick?

One of my volunteers grew a...no, I don't think it's a pumpkin, the stalks and leaves look like Summer squash!

It's baseball-sized.

ZdT squash continues to produce. I picked two more, a few beans from the first sowing, and a bunch from the second sowing!

And after all my chicken chores were complete, I put some straw in the second coop's wheelbarrow. Hilarity ensued...
