Thanks. It's never easy, just part of animal husbandry.

I could put up a second roost, but based upon experience it would only be used for a few weeks. And I'll probably be taking the boys to auction by mid August, don't need three cockerels in with Silas!

Ah, dang. Sorry about the chick. We've all been there, it's tough to see the miracle stop short. It's one of those things that give us experience and reminds us to truly appreciate the ones that make it.

The OEGB chicks I bought for Naomi don't stay still. I had a hard time getting non-blurry photos today!

That's "pink" and "blue" chicks under Naomi's watchful eye.

Esther decided to photobomb my efforts, so I got a couple decent shots of her.

That's Silas in the background.

Esther and Silas are Speckled Sussex, but with major flaws, so I'm not breeding them. It's okay, Esther gives me eggs. But Silas? Well...

Silas tried to break up an altercation when one of the hens got too close to Naomi's new chicks. He launched himself between them.
