• Goat Nutri-Drench- do not give if a goat has a fever

• Probiotics- This is a major life saver. I like the Goats Prefer powder, the paste is also fine
  
  
• Kaolin Pectin/Pepto Bismol

• Jump Start Plus
  
  
• Activated Charcoal- if poisonous plants are on the property or near by.
  
  
• Electrolytes for goats
  
  
• Syringes- 1cc, 3cc , 12cc , 20cc etc.
  
  
• Needles 20g-22g 1inch long is adequate
  
  
• Antibiotics- Oxytetracycline & Penicillin
  
  
• Blue-Kote
  
  
• Vet wrap
  
  
• Gauze
  
  
• Medical tape
  
  
• Duct tape- Tape AFTER vet wrap etc. Don't use directly on the goat

• Triple antibiotic ointment
  
  
• Cotton balls
  
  
• Iodine
  
  
• Isopropyl alcohol
  
  
• Tweezers/hemostats
  
  
• Eye wash
  
  
• Blood stop powder/ Qwick Stop
  
  
• Utility Scissors
  
  
• Injectable B complex
  
  
• Ammonium chloride

• Broad spectrum de-wormer- Ivermectin Plus is good
  It doesn't treat everything but treats most of the deadly worms. This is off label and should be used under the supervision of a vet.
• Coccicide- Di-methox is good

We also have banamine, dexamethasone, thiamine, and Lutalyse on hand.

Its also great to have disposable gloves and clippers!

When you have goats that are coming into milk I like:

• Today mastitis treatment

• California mastitis test kit (CMT)

• Antibiotics

• Iodine

• Isopropyl alcohol

• Cotton balls

• paper towels

• disposable gloves

• Teat tape

• Needles/Syringes

Sorry I haven't been back to the forum. I went on vacation and had to get the herd all set up for their babysitters. After we lost our little buckling our neighbors purchased us a new little 6 month old doe. She is adorable and loves people. She is in the process of adapting to our herd. We haven't had any further problems, although I am even more wary of dogs.

Thank you everyone for your advice and help on this sad trial I had with my herd. Thank you all so much for making me feel welcome!!!

So sorry.

Dogs carry lots of nasty bacteria in their mouths. IF it ever happens again. Flush with hydrogen peroxide and start antibiotics immediately, pen g is available at farm stores and with livestock worth keeping on hand. Even if you find a local vet that's decent with goats. Murphys law states they get sick or injured when the vet is unavailable.
