I have loved goats for as long as I can remember but we just started getting into raising them. By we I mean my two kids and I. I have an 18 year old son and an 11 year old daughter. We started last year with 4 market Boer goats as a 4H project and while the kids loved it they fell in love with the personalities that each goat had and were very upset when we were not able to bring them home. While scouring the internet on what types of goats we should look into next I ran across Nigerian Dwarf goats and had to have some. I am totally hooked (my 18 year old son says I have an addiction). I bought two Nigerians for the kids and they will be coming to their forever homes as soon as their "mommies" are ready to wean. I have also bought one that will be all mine ( I don't share well, LOL). She will becoming home a month later. All three are within a month of each other and while I am not sure I will get into the soap, breeding, or milking of the goats I am sure that we will be having a blast with all three. We are still doing the Boer Goats as a 4H project but I think it will be easier on them this time since they have the Nigerians to come home too.
Since we are new to the goat world especially the Nigerians any helpful tips you can give me are welcome and encouraged.

Thank you

Welcome from NW Mississippi!....:frow
We have goats, chickens, ducks, and cats here on our 20acres. Sounds like ya have been "Bitten by the Bug" and ya will have to be aware of the "Goat Math" and just how they can multiply on ya....:)
There is a lot of info in the existing Forums and Threads, so feel at home and browse around. If ya have a question, comment, or advice just feel free to post away, and we all love pics, so be sure to share those too.
Again.....:welcome

A big howdy and welcome from the Great Lone Star State, where the stars at night are big and bright!

We can talk Nigies till those big cows come home! Love my Nigies! Spoil your goaties, shamelessly spoil them and they will love you forever. Raisins are good, black oil sunflower seeds, aka BOSS are good but keep track of how many BOSS the hoover up as that can make the beasties fat. Love on your goaties, talk to them, expect things from them such as coming when you call their names. Rattling a feed bucket works real well here. And post lots of pictures as we all love pictures.

Please, please, please do not hesitate to ask questions and keep asking until the answers make sense to YOU, and post pictures.

Get a good vet.

Love on your goaties... and post pictures.
