Hello from Southern CA

Hi all! I'm Alison and I found this forum through backyardchickens.com and I was so excited! When we bought our house we knew we would be getting some chickens and some goats... so now the chicks are in the brooder and we're starting to look at goats (or maybe sheep) for pets and weed control. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, 2 daughters (ages 3 and 4 1/2), a pitbull mix pup, and 14 chicks waiting on a coop. We're looking at some Boer X goats tomorrow, so we'll see where that goes. I took a little 1/2 day goat and sheep husbandry class today at a local (very small) farm and they tried to talk me into changing my mind to sheep instead of goats, but I think we're pretty set on the goats for now. I look forward to learning a lot and getting to know you!

I, too, am here from BYC.

I only have chickens now, but am planning on getting some sheep for lawn mowing and meat (as well as herding fun for our border collie).
