This year will be my first year milking my does and I am not sure how to feed.... I have breeding Nigerians for years but never milked before so i want to make sure I feed right...

any suggestions would be great.. Right now I plan on only milking 1x a day till babies are weaned..

thanks

It really depends on your opinion. Some say 1lb of feed per lb of milk some say more some say all the doe can eat while you milk her.

You should try everything and see what works for you. As long as her body condition is being maintained you can mess around with how much feed to give her and find a happy medium.

If you're looking for a place to start - try feeding her as much as she can eat while you milk her. If she starts getting fat, cut that back and slow her down with stuff like soaked beet pulps or alfalfa cubes.
