Hi all!
I first heard about, (and joined), Backyard Herds when BYC went under construction a few weeks ago.
Though I had joined back then, I had some major technical issues, and couldn’t post until now.
So here I am, and hi!

I currently have 26 hens, 2 roosters, 3 8 wk old pullets, 12 2 wk old chicks, and 17 who hatched Thursday!

I also have 2 goats, and am planning on ducks in May!

Hi and welcome.... :welcome:welcome

Have had many breeds of purebred show chickens, have a few now, plus we raise beef cattle.... some White Texas Dall sheep, garden, make alot of hay and some crops for the beef cattle... plus usually have a family cow or 2 most of the time... and I still work with dairy farmers as a milk tester... we keep pretty busy...

Are you getting steers to raise for the freezer?
Yes, so one of the two is a steer, and he’ll be weaned in December. He’s going into the freezer next year.😋 I’ve been calling him Ribbsy! lol😂

Are the cows bred? Meaning calves and milk in spring?:celebrate fun, fun!!
Yes! One of the cows -her name is Misty- is bred, and due in March. I am trying to get them early enough before she has the calf to have milk routine training in place, so she doesn’t get all defensive of me touching her udders while she’s trying to nurse the babe.

Can’t wait for the creamy deliciousness!!
