I've been looking on goat supply sites to stock up for items I need, might need and 1st aid stuff I can't get from work.
I keep seeing this hoof stuff that says to help maintan a healthy hoof, block out water while still letting it breathe. Says it prevents hoof rot, fungus and etc.
So my ? is do any of ya'll put anything on your goats feet?

If your barnyard is clean and you do not cut the hoof walls too deep, they will be fine.
In other words, no, I never had to use any of that stuff.

unless you have a problem with hoof rot, most likely will not need the stuff, but if you have very wet conditions, it does help

We've had a SUPER wet year, so I ran through a bottle of Naylor's Hoof n' Heel (zinc sulfate) on one that got a little hoof scald.. Hoof n' Heel's supposed benefit over copper sulfate foot solutions (Kopertox, etc) is that it doesn't stain or dry out the hoof....my experience was that it didn't stick around as long, either, and took more to get the job done.

Last time I trimmed hooves, I painted everybody's feet green with Kopertox.

:D

As far as keeping something like that handy...sure, why not. It's around $10, keeps indefinitely, and will almost certainly be out of stock when you need it.
