Has anyone tried attaching hot hands to water bottles to keep them from freezing?

They don't last long in my pocket can't imagine they will do much for a water bottle. All I can suggest is get xtra bottles and swap them out. I also bought some small rubber bowls at Tractor supply. Easy to break the ice in them or add warm water.

That is what we are currently doing. Just have a 7 day trip at end of December and trying to think of ways to make it easier for our animal "sitter".

Too pricy. A heated bottle or dish would be cheaper than replacing hot hands over and over. Even running electric would quickly become cheaper. I love hot hands, but they cost a lot imo and I would not want that cost to be recurring.

While it sounds like a good idea, the water freezes in the nipple. It’s like an ice plug. I don't know what animals the OP has, but for our rabbits, referring to you screen shot, we switch them to cups or bowls and refill twice a day with warm water. I love those rubber slop bowls for the chickens. Thats what i call them anyway :)

"Slop bowls" that's funny. I used them in every cage but my champagne thinks every thing added in his hutch is for chewing. Took the sides down to nubs. Lop got her ears wet. Dutch boy wouldn't touch it. So they get swapped bottles. My 2 am chins I started them with bowls and they won't touch the bottle now. Rabbits, I can't figure 'em out.

Plus with the hot hands one winter I tried them but have to keep shaking them. About worthless I thought.

Sorry. I should have clarified I guess. I only use the rubber tub for the chickens. The rabbits get ceramic cups, like you’d drink from. Ours came with a bunch of other stuff from a rabbit breeder friend who was getting out of bunnies. They look like soup mugs, just shorter (?), she said she got them from the dollar store. I used to swap bottles until I couldn't figure out why they were attacking the fresh bottle while the old one wasnt even completely frozen yet. Thats when the lightbulb turned on for me about the nipples being frozen. Duh  It only took about an hour on the coldest days. With the cups it takes a bit longer and they're positioned in the sun, so that helps a bit too. They wont go without water, so eventually they'll start using whatever you give them. Mine took to them really well. I was surprised.
