i have a neighbor who has a Nigerian dwarf that is about 9 years old. She has not been pregnant in at least 6 years. She was bred to a buck June 12th. I know that is the date because I saw it happen. She should have kidded on Nov 4th but has not yet. Her nipples are longer but she isn't bagged up. She looks very pregnant! My question is how long do you let her go before you intervene? We thought for the super moon would have put her in labor but no dice.

Also she is near impossible to catch. She is crazy smart. We have only been able to get about 5 feet from her so we have not been able to examine her as of yet.

Any suggestions?

Was/has she been running with the buck after June 12th?
She might have been bred that day but didn't take and possibly settled on a later date.

I would not induce, almost every time I see someone induce an "over-due" doe, it doesn't end well. Mostly because the doe did settle at a later date and they end up with kids that are so underdeveloped they don't survive. Unless this doe gets sick or spikes a fever I would leave her be.

I would catch her and "bump" her to feel for kids/movements.

Ok I agree. We will try to get her pinned up and check her. She is still carrying them high. I know they are alive. I saw at least one moving yesterday while she was standing still for me.

Now you may totally be right, but don't mistake the movement of her rumen for movement of kids. It can be misleading.
