If I were to get a couple of pigs that were just weaned, about how much feed would I expect them to eat if I raised them up to 250-275 pounds. I'm not sure which breed/cross I am going to get, just wanting a ballpark number for projecting costs.

I raise one every year, and while they are still little a feed bag of grower/starter would last a couple weeks, (per pig), then when she started growing really good one bag of feed would last about 1 week. But my pig was on pasture (10 acres) so she would graze also. Hope this helps.....

Ballpark... 500 to 750 pounds depending on the pig. That is an average feedmix being 15% protein.

That's impossible to answer as it depends on how you are going to raise them - on pasture or on a pen & what breed they are. Pastured pigs will eat way less grain but take longer to mature. That also then will depend on the quality of your pasture.

We feed our pastured pigs around 4lbs of grain each a day, less when we have milk from the cows.

That sounds right. 4 lbs. X 150 days = 600 lbs. of grain.

Our Large Blacks take about 12 mths to reach butchering weight though so eating more than 600lbs. BUT they are 3 - 4 mths old before they are eating 4lbs a day.
