I want goats

Hi, I am looking to get dairy goats, just a few for our family use. We live in Florida. I would love it if you all could recommend some books to help me learn or any advice you are willing to share. Just from my initial research I am leaning toward Nubians.

There is lots of advice to be found here I don't really have any books to recommend, I jumped into goats head first after having sheep for quite a while. This place has been such a help. If you want to know about something specific, just ask. There are sooo many experienced people on here ready to help

I agree! "Goat Medicine" is great...and "Storeys Guide to Dairy Goats" is very informative and is easy to understand for newbies!! Very informative and gives the basics pretty clearly!!

Have fun! Nubians are very good milkers!! And love their floppy ears.

thee most helpful book in my opinion. has tons of pictures and drawings and is very easy to understand.

*my aunt lives in florida but she lives by tampa so no goats for her :/ ha ha!

"Raising Goats for Dummies" by Cheryl K. Smith.

It's a good book with lots of helpful information for the first-time goat owner...easy reading and understanding with diagrams and pictures.
I bought mine on line at a discount book outlet.

I am about an hour North of Panama city beach in the pan handle. I looked up "Goat Medicine" but it's listed for over 150 dollars!
