Hello there! Am Uba, a Nigerian who wants to improve his goat rearing from the little he has to as many as possible with varieties. Currently I rear our local breed which I dont really no its name (the breed). But they are slim and dont give any extra milk apart from that for her kids. They give birth to single, two or three at a time. Now I want to start with goats that can give plenty of milk for other processess apart from its kids consumption. Where can I get one in Nigeria? Please help.

Welcome farkesuil to the forum! There is a very active goat forum here and lots of very knowledgeable people. I do not keep goats, I have sheep. Perhaps you could increase the milk from your goats by separating the kids at night and milking the goat in the morning before you put the kids with her again?

I found a classified advertisement for goats in Nigeria. I found it interesting that they are listed as native, local and foreign goats. Perhaps you could find a dairy buck to upgrade your own goats.

I also found this site, I don't know how far you from this farm, but perhaps this ranch could give you advice in your search for a getter goat.

Although breed and inherited ability (genes) determines how much milk the doe can produce, diet has quite a bit to do with it as well. I have no idea what is available where you are for goats (breeds) or goat feed (hay/browse/grain). But, glad you joined us and I hope you get something useful from the forum. We have quite a few goat owners here. Welcome! Please make yourself at home.
