I milking stand comes in handy for trimming hooves. Another method i use is to sit on the ground and put the goat in my lap and get him on his back but not laying flat sort of in a sitting position. Then throw one of my legs over his middle and at this puts his face is next to mine and this seems to calm then some. You can then reach their hooves and trim them while talking to them. Sounds strange but an old timer taught me this and it works well. My goats trust me as i spend time with them every day so they know they are not going to be hurt. You can also practice without trimming and see how they react.
