I've been low key looking for a companion for Hera. She is very obviously lonely coming from a pack of 3 LGDs.

Today we picked up Leonidas a 10month puppy from a very nice but COMPLETELY clueless family. No fence and didn't realize he would be 100+ lbs. He has been with chickens and a pair of sheep. He is 75% Anatolian/ 25% Maremma mix. Parents are working LGDs at neighboring farm.

We are home. First introduction thru paddock fence went okay between Hera and Leo. Hubby had Leo on lead while we walked past Hera and she gave space. Leo is now in the LGD isolation pen alongside the rams in south pen. Hera is up for night in north pen with ewes. We are getting dinner then I will feed all critters.

Fed everyone dinner. Poor Leo was upset and whimpering. His world just turned upside down.

Monday Hubby Alijah is taking him to the vet. To start / redo shots and look at the "minor" spot on his leg. 🤬😡🤬 WHY have animals if you won't treat them right. I'm not saying vet for every sniffle mind you. It's close to 2" across and they've done nothing!

Dog bite? Hot spot? Spider bite? It's not weepy or hot to touch. I only got a quick inspection since he's defensive of area.

So first morning walk with Leonidas went okay. He is VERY sensitive to the bad dog voice. He bulled past me when I was trying to get leash on but waited at first pee spot when I ANHT'd him. He pulls like an ox and my back is unhappy. Hera followed us at about 20ft distance sniffing his markings while I lead him around the small paddock fence. Came up and sniffed his but while I held fast against the pulling for a minute.

We had a dicy moment when kids let house dogs out. Biscuit stopped at home fence and started barking like crazy. Bruno saw an unauthorized dog in paddock and jumped the fence. At that point, he seemed to realize I was there holding Leo's leash. LOL Continued to body block and some minor growling as I tried to lead Leo back to night pen. Several rounds of making Leo sit with good boys followed by Bruno sit with good boys seemed to calm Bruno. I then put Leo up in pen and escorted Bruno home. Hera of course stayed out with the sheep.
