Afterbirth done… took a little while but it came…
Girl isn’t having hard time nursing but boy is…I try to help but he only suckles a little then quits…
They both look strong, walking, talking…but the girl does seem to be getting around a little better than the boy. Rainy is doing great

Sometimes if they take a while being born, they are tired and don't nurse well right away. In a couple hours they will be rested and vigorous. Check teats to be sure milk is coming out, sometimes they can become plugged with dry colostrum.

In the pix the kids seem to be covered in orange stuff. Is that the color they were when born or is it just a reaction of the lens in the light. If the buck kid was born first, and is the one with the orange mucous cover, she may have had a little trouble. Orange mucous slime means that the kid(s) or lamb(s) were stressed during birthing. Not unusual for a first timer with a large kid.

@Ridgetop which pic? I don’t remember seeing orange mucus…it was clear opaque…as far as I can remember…even though it took forever! It happened so fast!!! I do have a red heat lamp in there? Buck was born first, I used iodine after they nursed…I’m going back through my pics. My girls were clicking the pics as I was catching and cleaning

I blocked the door but brought Rainy a small bucket of water and her food in there. Is that bad? Rainy can get out if she climbs over the hay bale, but I don’t think the kids can (not tonight anyway) I’m just so worried they’re going to get out into the cold. The kids are very curious and want to explore. But Rainy keeps speaking to them, I’m assuming telling them to stay…the girl listens, the boy keeps tottering around looking at everything. and Rainy comes over and nudges him she’s like a different goat I was kinda worried she may not be motherly, but she’s absolutely wonderful

I’m so grateful you said check her. Immediately water gushed out and she began really pushing and he came out. A little struggle but I don’t think it was horrible. The girl came out so fast I didn’t see her but one of my daughters said ‘another one!!’

All three of my girls got to witness this. It was amazing!

Well I'm Sooo glad the cuties arrived fine and now we can all get some sleep! next time you'll be far less anxious -- 2nd child "oh well" -- ya know?

She won't leave them, don't worry. The buckling will be strong in a few hours. And, they only suckle a few slurps at a time at first but, often. Looks like she's got plenty for them.

Glad you got to be there and see how well she did with everything. Now relax, the fun begins. . Congrats!!
