Our nubian doe just gave birth to twins 4 days ago. We took the kids away to bottle feed 24 hours ago and they seem to be doing fine but the mama is UPSET!!!! She hasnt stopped crying in 24 hours.....Is this normal?????? She seems real stressed out to the point that I am concerned about her health. Any suggestions on what to do next??? Thank You!!!!

We usually pull kids at birth for that reason, they stress much less if they never 'meet' them, than if you take them away later once they've bonded.

You can either give her the kids back, if she is depressed enough to stop eating / lose milk production, or make her tough it out. Unfortunately there's no way to make it easier (that I know of). If you have to choose between saving her / getting her milk, I'd say give 'em back.

Hope she does ok for you. :)

never bottle fed. left all kids on does, but if a kid passed, she would cry and search for a while. not long. life moves forward very fast for goats. she will search a bit. call. but nature takes it course and her next breeding etc. will come into play and go forward. stress is not the same in a human and a goat. her 'stress' is finding her kids but nature blocks the emotions that we as humans know.

so hang in there. it seems very stressful to you to hear her, but she will move forward fast.
