Howdy y’all! :frow

My name is Heidi. I’ve been a member of Backyard Chickens for almost 4 years now. A few weeks ago we were given some goats, and while trying to research some questions I had I saw somebody post about this site. So I migrated on over since this seems like a better place to talk about the goats. 😅

I live in Central Texas, on 20 acres. But we only have about 2 acres in the front fenced, the rest we mostly leave untouched for hunting and wildlife.

Looking forward to meeting people here, and seeing how many familiar faces there are from the other site.

Welcome!! A lot have been/are on both sites.

You're right -- BYC is poultry centered. Here we do "all of them", any farm animal. Make yourself at home. Several Texans here.....be forewarned, there are poultry grown for plates, not just feathers & eggs. :hide

Oh I’m well aware that people on both sites grow chickens for food. That was my original intention, but they have turned in to pets. So I eat a lot of chicken, just not my chickens. 😅

I currently have 29 chickens. I had 33 earlier this year, but have lost a few ISAs that were over three years old to reproductive issues, and a few others we suspect were bitten by a rattlesnake. Two are roosters, a Chocolate Orpington and a Silkie. The hens are a wide assortment, including Orpingtons, Australorps, Wyandottes, Legbars, Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, Silkies, a Porcelain D’Uccle and a w laced Sebrite. I also have 4 ducks (Rouen and Runner), a German Shepherd/Malinois mix, and 2 cats.

I used to have horses and a couple of llamas but they are all gone now. And of course the 3 goats that are the reason for me joining here. They are Pygmy’s, with a little bit of Nubian mixed in. All females, and at least one is pregnant. VERY pregnant.

Lala is the big one on the right, she is the one who is for sure pregnant. Pixie (her daughter) is behind her, and the white one is GoGo.

Welcome to BYH!
Just 5 chickens here - New Hampshire Reds, for eggs.
Then 30 sheep (lambs go to market and freezers), and 6 herding dogs (Belgian Laekenois).
