I'm wondering if this is normal behavior and I'm too scared to google it. I have a miniature zebu bull and a cow that live together. Every time I approach their paddock with treats in my hand, the bull gets excited to the point of... well, completion. He doesn't just get an erection. He goes all the way. It happens whether the cow is in heat or not, any time of day, any day of the week. I feed them occasional treats of fresh banana, strawberry, and cattle cubes and it happens every time. Is this normal bull behavior, or should I just take it as a compliment?

I've not had much experience with the miniature breeds... but I have never had anything like that with any of our beef cattle bulls. We take them grain for a "treat" and to keep them "friendly enough" that we can get them to come to the barn or load in the trailer with a bucket and some feed....
Could just be his quirk.... does he do it when you just go out there to see them without the treats???

Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. See the postings above.
I would cut back on giving treats. You may have made too big a "pet" of this bull which can be a dangerous thing. Just because he is a "miniature" species doesn't mean that he is not powerful and can really hurt you without intention. You need to be very careful with this bull.

Thank you for your response and comparison to your own bulls. It's good to hear that I'm not crazy and that this is indeed unusual behavior. He does sometimes get an erection when he sees me without treats but doesn't ejaculate. There have been a few times when I let him out of the paddock to graze and he got the zoomies, ran around excitedly, and ejaculated, but I was not near him. I suppose it's simply his emotional response turning physical? I should add that this bull is also very affectionate and loves neck scritches and being talked to in a soft voice. He does not get erect when I do those things - if he did then I would feel in danger. When I pet him he just licks me on my arm like the cow does. Is it normal for a bull to get THIS EXCITED over anything but cows in heat?? Sometimes he even performs self fellatio if I'm walking around eating my lunch outside. It's obscene!!

I don’t know your age, so don’t get offended. If it is that time on the month, intact male animals can smell it and have been known to try to mount. I had a friend that was attacked by her husband’s stud horse. She ran, he bit her and ripped her shirt off.

If he becomes a problem, sell him before you or someone else gets hurt and buy another one. Not being negative, just pointing out facts.

Something we say on here, there are too many good ones out there to put up with a problem animal.

I realize it’s a month later. This person joined, only ever posted twice, and made some outlandish statements. Seriously thinking it was a troll. The first post got thoughtful answers but didn’t start any wild drama. So the second post went a little further in outlandishness. Person hung around forum for 4 days and then gave up. (Because we are not a highly excitable crowd that would have flamed the thread like over on BYC.)

Just my theory. I know I’m jaded, lol.

I've only ever posted once. This is a real thing that is happening and is still happening with my bull. I think you're the one making outlandish statements, sir. Please stick to the topic or leave the thread.
