Visually it doesn't look like a lot of progress has been made on the kitchen despite the fact that there's been lots! He's built up most of the subfloor, including the section which is under the dishwasher. Unfortunately he found a bit of rot in the sink area. He's going to have to pull all the subfloor layers and replace it.
It's one of those snowball projects. He was trying to do one wall, ceiling, and get the floor laid. Now he wants to rip cabinets off the walls and redo drywall behind them, add outlets, replace counters (Unfortunately quite a bit of rot around the sink area), and set up stuff for how we want the final arrangement to be. He asked me about paint colors yesterday and I just stared at him. We weren't planning to paint the kitchen for at least another year or so. I'm not prepared. I have no idea what I want that wall to be. 😂 plus he has strong opinions on paint color, unfortunately. I tend to like vivid deep colors and he always says, without fail, that the color I chose is too dark and it'll make the room dark and encourage me to go a few shades lighter. Problem is I don't usually like the color if it's lighter... it's a different color at that point.
The kitchen is about half torn apart. I'm planning on it being a disaster for a week or something. We'll make it work.

I felt that choir practice was too short yesterday. Idk if the director had somewhere to be or what. We have songs we sound really good on and others we struggle. I think we have enough to nail it all down, though. My older daughter wants to participate in "The Baby", which is the only song kids participate in. I've been working with her a little bit and letting her listen to it on the cd at night. We've run into a funny problem. Since I sing alto, I'm not always singing the melody. But that's what she's heard me sing around the house so that's the part she's naturally gravitating towards. We've practised with me singing the melody and her singing alto but she ends up listening to me and singing off tune. 😂 I'm not sure how to teach her to not listen to me singing, outside of repetition.
One solution may be for me to play the melody on the piano for her and have her learn that. She'll be standing in the choir surrounded by children who are singing the melody so that might be the way to go.

I decided to host a "Friendsgiving" at our house in two days. So far I have 5 confirmed guests: 3 neighbors from across the street, and a couple from the church we just left. I do have an invite out to another woman but haven't heard back yet.
The kitchen is completely torn apart. 💀

It sounds like a good time, torn apart kitchen will be ok, nobody will care. It's all about being thankful and friends make it better.
Thanks for the encouragement! That was my hope.
I'm not really a planner and like to do things on the fly. DH and I had a miscommunication. He thought I was inviting people over for Thanksgiving day but I thought we wouldn't have as many yeses. He thought he had a whole 24 more hours to work on this project. Whoops!
I got some baking done. 2 pumpkin pies and two loves of sourdough bread to turn into "dressing".

I only learned this year that stuffing is only stuffing if it's inside the bird. I don't think I can handle calling it "dressing". It's not a condiment, it's a side dish!
Also prepping two turkey breasts tonight.

I would slice, butter and EAT that sourdough bread! In the South, we make cornbread dressing. The first time I made cornbread dressing, the old cookbook I was using called for STALE cornbread. It MEANT as a way to use up the uneaten cornbread that was a staple of country living. I did not realize that and hit the panic button. I spent ALL DAY cooking cornbread, crumbling it up and MAKING it stale in a slow oven. I was such a dummy.

I would have used stale/older bread if I had had any, but we go through it quickly.
I don't think I've had cornbread stuffing before. It sounds good, though!
I got almost all the cooking done by early afternoon. Dh was still moving stuff around and hanging drywall within a couple hours of guests arriving. But we got it done! We set up couple of cabinets that used to be on the wall to make a buffet counter. I used the top of a different cabinet as the apple punch/ coffee bar.
The gathering was a big success. All our guests arrived within the same 3 mins of each other. A few of them we hasn't seen in a while so it was nice to reconnect and catch up. A couple people had asked me what they could bring so I wasn't on the hook for green bean casserole or cranberry sauce. One woman also brought a surprise pie and some jello wigglers for the kids, and another man brought the kids a make your own turkey cookie kit. That kept them occupied while the adults were still eating!
I've decided today is a relax for the wife kind of day. We've eaten leftovers for breakfast and lunch. Right now I have my feet up and am stitching.

My husband likes to stay busy so he's working on the kitchen. 😅

Tomorrow I will start to decorate for Christmas!
