That’s a lot! Why do you think so many are selling out? I see people selling their flocks on the Katahdin FB groups, but nowhere near that many. My thoughts, I believe the economy, with high inflation and high costs of everything, are making people taking a serious look at what they are spending money on. Feed, Hay, goodbye sheep.

Dang cute pics like that make me want a moo or too. But I hope I know better reading about cows and goats getting out remind me I should be good just the way it is here. Oh and the cute bunny pics

Having them all and sheep, I'd say the goats are h=ll. But cattle are easy to contain with a hot wire or three.

Yes, all of that, plus the droughts and the registry dramas.
Plus, the general quitters who buy for cute wittle sheep looks, then give up after 1-4 years. These are constant. Thy usually hate the shearing and didn't research it, thought they'd be like goats/overly in your face like dogs, easy to contain, shouldn't of gotten any livestock to begin with/thought they could be farmers but didn't have it in them.
Also, the market might be finally bottoming out.

Looks like the bull is "scheduled", for a cold day. Lol, in Va, idk wtf that means. Doesn't stay freezing for long.

Heck of a lot of ground beef. I'll need to look up wtf to do with that much ground meat....Anyone care to add to the list??

Sad time, but at least I can have them all together, in with sheep and I won't have to stay out of the pasture any longer nor jump fences and carefully run him through paddocks and such!
Can only home steer Guiller-moo stays mellow. He's such a cutie, always stuck with mean Zim....Would be nice for him to enjoy being a pet without anyone shoving him around with horns.

Can it. SOOO convenient to just open a jar & warm when a recipe calls for browned ground beef.

In soups, on salads, in baked beans, in scrambled eggs w/cheese, toss in food processor with pickles, mayo, ketchup, shred cheese & make cheeseburger spread for sandwiches, top a baked potato, nachos,.....

My dad used to call it hamburger soup.

Basically you brown hamburger and onions, and then add lots of canned tomatoes and water, bring to a boil, add elbow noodles and simmer until the noodles are cooked. Only spices are salt and pepper to taste. You can make it thin or thick to your preference by putting more or less water in.
