Ok so I am very new at this and need some help from more experienced goat people. My female gave birth to a beautiful kid this morning. It's only 7 outside and I'm scared that it's just way to cold for the kid. I did move both of them to the shop that has in floor heating and is kept about 50 degrees. Was that a good more or bad? In the corner I put up some plywood and put down wood shavings to make them both feel at home. I gave her plenty of goat feed, hay and water for the day. I did notice that the kid is eating and mom's milk is in. Is there anything else I need to do for mom or kid?

From one Rookie to another - Congratulations!

Sounds like you are doing great!

I had the same concern and put a heat lamp in the stall which also worked just fine. Mom drank a lot of water and eat a huge amount in the first few days.

Enjoy the little one - they grow fast.
