Because BYC is down for updates currently, I decided to join BYH. I know some of you from BYC. I breed Icelandic sheep to sell, and I have horses for fun. Everything I do is pretty much revolved around my chickens, which I have for 4H. I am hoping to buy a Havana rabbit from my cousin, who breeds them. I also have a Siamese cat.

That's why I chose hair sheep. If I had wool sheep, I'd have to learn to shear. That's just the gateway for a whole new set of chores. Once i embark on something new, I have to do it all. I'd have to learn how to wash and clean the wool. I'd want to figure out how to save the lanolin, possible make creams out of it. Then I'd have to learn the art of processing the wool in preparation for spinning, spin, and learn how to knit and or crochet. Then I could proudly present my family with oddly shaped scarves, or whatever my demented mind could produce, for Christmas gifts. I'd be banned from family gatherings.

So there you have it. I chose easy to care for Katahdin hair sheep, they come with no extra beauty duties. I am not tempted to take on a new set of chores and torment my family and friends with atrocities of crafts. I do admire those who do all the above and enjoy following along. Go for it and I shall be your biggest fan!

@Baymule you are sooo smart. Geeze -- is that why I seem to think if I can something I have to grow it? Every one else goes out and buys a bushel of whatever or loads up on sale things at the grocery store.
