Hey all!

Just a little introduction...My name is Sharon, and I'm from Ohio. My family has a little farm where we have goats, a small herd of ancient horses, and various types of fowl (peafowl, chickens, ducks, guineas).

Our daughter is in 4H and raises and shows call ducks. She also shows her goats--Nigerian Dwarf and Pygmy, although she's focusing more on the Pygmies, as they can be shown without having to be bred. Her show goats include 3 beautiful ND nannies, and two Pygmies--a wether and a doe. We are planning to purchase a third Pygmy for her, as soon as her baby is weaned. She is close to aging out of 4H, and she wants to show the Pygmies in open shows, as well.

I make and sell horsehair jewelry and coiled horsehair baskets in my spare time.

I should also add that we recently started with beekeeping, as well. Our daughter also did a project on them last year, and plans to continue the project this year. The kids had wanted to get bees for several years, and we finally took the plunge. It's been very exciting and rewarding, and I wish we had gotten started sooner!

Hi Sharon. Welcome from Eastern Washington state!
As @Baymule said I'm also a bee keeper. I love that your children are involved with everything.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome!

Here are some pictures--first of our bees. Our first package arrived last May, and they have thrived. Then we caught a small wild swarm without a queen. We bought them a queen and they are doing well, although the size of the hive is much smaller. Both seem to be handling the cold winter we're having, so far. The coldest air of the season is coming this weekend, so fingers crossed they do ok. Our son and daughter are the beekeepers in these pictures. :)

Here are a few of my horsehair baskets. These are on the larger side of what I make; they are all 6.5" to 7.5" in diameter and 2" to 3" tall. I also make all kinds of horsehair jewelry and other keepsakes. :)

This one was a custom order for a customer. I painted the white markings to look like her horse. :)

I entered a couple in our county fair last year, and was happy with the results. :)
