I'm bottle-feeding my newest kid and I am wondering if she would be old enough now, at 3 weeks, to spend some time in a pen with an older goat, 1 year old. (So she has a chance to "socialize" with her own kind.) Is she old enough?

I have had my bottle babies in with my adult does off and on since they were 5 or 6 days old. At first, they were in their own little area in the big pen and we would let them out with the does when we were around to watch. Now, at just under three weeks old, they are in with the does full time.

I just make sure there is an area that the kids can get away from the does. My area looks like a little prison, but actually it's a little sanctuary. I used railing for a deck along one corner of the goat house and put the heat lamp above it. The kids can fit through, but not the moms. The big does can't hog the heat lamp and the kids can all huddle underneath it.
