Our first two Nubian does gave birth right before the last snow in the midwest. We had our pygmy buck out with them all fall. We were trying for Kinders. Unfortunately, I don't think he is the dad of any of them. Our kinder buck got loose twice and bust into the field with the does. From the looks of the kids, I would say they are much more nubian then half and half :( But they are beautiful and healthy, so that is what matters, right?

Beauty was first. She labored hard and long. I am glad I was there for her. She was so exhausted, she wouldn't get up and check on her twin doelings. I had to wipe them off for her, especially their little noses so they could breath. I don't think she would have got up in time for it. She was just exhausted. But she nursed them great as soon as they got up and nuzzled all over them. (born 3-4)

Cindy was next. I thought she might be in early labor, but she wasn't acting like Beauty. No discomfort. No bleating and carrying on. No panting. I figured I had all the time in the world and I had an appointment in town. So I ran to it and flew back home. I was not gone more then an hour, maybe closer to 45 mins. I got home and there were twins (buck and doe), all cleaned off. Now Cindy did not want to nurse her babies. She was really full and probably it hurt. We had to hold her for the first couple of days. But she has turned into a great momma too.

The brown ones are Beauty's and the black ones are Cindy's. I got these two does from Roll Farms :)

The black kid is the buckling. He is quite massive.

One of the two brown does. She is a big girl too.

Sort of all four of them.

Our last doe, Maria, went last night or this morning. I had the vet here yesterday to dehorn the first group. He checked her as I thought she would have gone at the same time as the other two. Her udder was still not really full and tight. She had no discharge. I checked her before bed. Her udder felt a bit tighter. I figured by the weekend but surely not last night. Got up this morning to go feed and found two dried off babies who were both nursing, buck and doe.

I wouldn't be too sure about them being all Nubian. The ears in all but the last picture do not look like pure Nubian ears. The last one looks pure Nubi.

They are adorable, whatever they are!!

I know they aren't pure nubian. But they aren't half nub and half pygmy either. Our kinder buck (half nub x half pygmy) got in with our nubian does. Thus these babies are either 3/4 nub x 1/4 pygmy or they are 1/2 nub x 1/2 pygmy. I think it is the kinder buck who got them prego :(
