Sally had a massive single ram lamb at 3am. It was struggle to get him out and she was in shock and wouldn’t even look at him for at least 10 minutes after I got him out. She finally started cleaning him so I went to bed. All was good this morning and she loves him now.

In comparison to Linen’s lamb.

Sally had me starting to panic at work this afternoon. I let and her baby out of the maternity ward this morning and on one of my (many) barn checks via camera, I found Sally asleep in the barn with no baby anywhere in sight. I know she’d been out in the field so I started worrying she’d lost him in a sink hole or he’d fallen asleep out there and forgot she had a baby.

I finally caught a far away glimpse of him out in the field. She’d left him with his grandma (Mallie) to play with his uncle, Newton. He was eventually returned back to her custody in the barn.

No new babies yet, but this is the week with a lot of ewes due. I’m off tomorrow and Thursday so hopefully most of them will lamb while I’m here.

Linga lambed at 3am. Two girls!

#1 is solid black, no graying gene.

#2 is a little confusing. She’s black with the Ag (graying) gene, but she also has some, but not all of the markings of the katmoget/light badgerface pattern of her dad.

I wasn’t going to jug Linga since she’s a very experienced and excellent mom, but I had to in the end because Fyne was trying to steal the lambs.

Fyne is looking likely to lamb today as is Orla.
