Ridgetop would be happy to know that I no longer have to clean under the kids beds.
Every time it rains water still comes in the basement door (because the yard is graded into the basement, because why not?) so they "clean" the floor and under their beds every time it rains and that "clean" is clean enough. We're over a year on this place and still fixing water issues that have likely been an issue for a long time. I think that's the last one though. It doesn't rain often but I wonder if I can not tell the kids when it's fixed (JK, there will probably be a ditch witch or backhoe involved. I think they'll know.)

Oh boy, oh boy.
Happy birthday to me.
Oh man, the pigeons are just starting to talk about coming home to roost on this tech industry midlife crisis/AI tech bubble thing yet more mass layoffs coming. They're saying 14k people will be fired again, January 26th, 2026 in hopes of the CEO getting their salaries to be able to throw at more AI. The employees know the truth though and are even starting to publicly talk about it. AI can not be made to do what they want it to. It's strictly for cutesy little projects to sell to ceo's or upper managment (that are rapidly redone by hand so they actually work and actually cost MORE time) or for doing grunt work you're very knowledgeable in, that you can constantly babysit, that should have been automated away already.

DH is happy though because as long as he doesn't get randomly fired now that the heat's off he's got a project now to make it so no one has to put in the long hours to fix specifically what kept HIM up from 7 am to midnight for 2 months ever again (I thought it was 6 weeks, no, two months). Otherwise no to very little critical progress scaling can be made on the area he and a few special others have been working on. I wonder if he'll be left alone to finish it in January if it's not done before layoffs. Or how many people's jobs he's going to be forced to take over in addition to his own while doing this.

But I'll just keep focusing on goats. Because that's all I have sway with on earth right now.

This is Lovely. All her parts are coming together as a bred 2 year old coming FF. She knows better than to fire her employee. In fact, she doesn't even complain. She knows AI can not bring her hay and feed her.

Be smart like Lovely, DH's company CEO. But of course he won't. He wants to have his startup company culture cake and to eat it too. SO IDK what 2026 will look like. We will probably still be here. Maybe.

Lol, we should be so excited to be part of "staying nimble" (aka, firings and scrambling to cover for the lost people so no deadlines are met despite it all or having no job anymore). Biggest pile of buck goat coco puffs as of late. Meanwhile DH is hard to convince to look for other pastures to work in because the numbers look so good IF they don't randomly fire him.

Oh man...This AI bubble is going to blow like a huge cattle abscess when it does.

AI centers use more water than a small town. They suck electricity and rates will go up on people so AI can burn up OUR electricity and water.
Yep, data centers are raising our rates substantially too, and they want to build yet another one near by. People are already having trouble affording the current new rates. We don't need data centers. They and AI are the solutions nobody asked for, to problems that didn't exist. It's got to stop.

AMEN TO THAT.... AI is going to be more of a disaster than people realize... because it can and will be used against "the masses" and it cannot grow the food we eat. Automation does and will continue to make some farming jobs easier, or faster, but when it comes down to it, NOTHING will replace Mother Nature for nourishing our bodies...not "fake lab grown stuff"...
