AMEN TO THAT.... AI is going to be more of a disaster than people realize... because it can and will be used against "the masses" and it cannot grow the food we eat. Automation does and will continue to make some farming jobs easier, or faster, but when it comes down to it, NOTHING will replace Mother Nature for nourishing our bodies...not "fake lab grown stuff"...
Fake grown lab stuff "FGLS" actually uses way more energy to manufacture, and creates much more waste than conventional food production.

AI -- yeah - I've been saying all along that it is going to be our worst nightmare yet. There will end up being only one way to do something. No innovation, intuition etc that is part of the human mind. Geeze- I even remember movies ancient movies -- well 60's? 70's? where machines took over the earth. Seriously we are headed that direction on a very slippery slope.

Supposedly there is a theory/cult religion/drug induced direction of thinking subscribed to by crazy tech giant billionaires that AI will take over and bring about an apocalypse, enslave or kill us all, blah, blah, blah. They don't want the masses. They want your money, and they want machines that make them even more money and make it so they don't need anyone...IDK to what end. Tech billionaire world war, I guess. The whole thing is craziness. Disturbing craziness. Kind of makes the recent change in treatment of the software engineers at DH's company make sense. They want that human element out of there even if the craziness is toned down.

@murphysranch ,Thanks, me too. And that is EXACTLY what happens almost every, if not every time. Right now the software engineers and managers aren't allowed to admit it or they could be considered "not relevant" and go on the chopping block. I just wish we could skip to the part they are allowed to publicly decide what it is and isn't good for.

I'm kind of envious of your daughter if they were able to publicly fix it instead of sneak the fix. DH discovered yesterday that a large part of why he was tied up for those two months is because they did a lot of foundational work they mostly didn't understand very, very, very likely with AI and now he's going to spend several days to a week just unfudging up the groundwork and straightening things out before he can make any progress from there, assuming he doesn't have to spend even more time correcting things from the bottom up so it actually works at all.

Him sticking with this company for the high salary...I have thoughts, frustrated thoughts from my leaky shoebox on the ag reserve.

As far as farm life goes, today the la-nubians and the one mini were making so little that I was able to downsize our milking stuff to the bucket and tote that fit in the dishwasher, so no more hand washing of milk stuff for me this month and half of. These two la-nubes do not have much of as much of a FF will to milk despite their size and pedigree-one is milkier than the other, but it's not the classier looking one-but I'm going to make the best of it.
