For the record Smitty had an aneurysm that paralyzed his rear legs and within a few days he died even with vet treatment. Crockett came to me with erlichiosis although it was not active. Shortly after Smitty died he had a flare and despite treatment died. They had good lives with me and I miss them.

Go explain to your neighbor what that coat means to your dogs and that they have worn those coats for over 2,000 years. If there was something wrong with that coat, it would have been bred out of the dogs by now. Thank him for his nice deep pond and for letting the dogs enjoy it.

My Anatolian has a much shorter coat but takes regular dips in the pond all year. More in the summer, but he loves the pond.

I have read “Yes clipper!” and “No don’t!” Usually the coats blow before it ever becomes an issue. I hate getting bad press with the neighbors especially with the walkabouts which everyone has been very understanding about. An opportunity will present itself for an explain but some folks hold fast to opinions.
