I am looking for someone to possibly disbud a couple of kids late this month/early April and probably in late April to.
One of our does is due pretty soon, and the other is on her way next month. If all goes as planned, we should have kids born sometime in the next two weeks or so.

I have never disbudded before and I would really like to find someone semi local who can do it, at least for this time around.
We could bring the kids to you, or work something out. They would be LaManchas, and we are CAE free. (We test)
We would of course be willing to pay you for your time/etc.

We are in central Alabama, south of Birmingham.

I'd love to come over to Alabama and stay a couple of weeks and you can pay all my expenses and I'll just charge $10.00 per goat.

Just kidding around. LOL

Call your vet or ask some goat folks in your area who disbuds. If you were closer I would be glad to help and give you a demonstration and you could learn to do it yourself.

yeah, same here. would show you how, but we are in so.ill, at least 6 hr drive one way

Well, thank you both for your offers!

My main problem is I only knew one other person here that raised goats, and he retired from it years back.
My other problem is the fact we live in the middle of poodle country. Not a vet in the area knows what a goat is, let alone what to do with one.
It'll be a bit of hike to find one that does!

check with the retired guy. he has not forgot how, and usually will be happy to pass on his knowledge. you may need to purchase a disbudding iron, or he may have kept one. but it never hurts to ask.(we liked the small iron we purchased from jeffers vet supply, less than 50.00)

He never disbudded sadly for us, and even if he had, he moved way far south.
I am making inquires to vets, no luck yet but we'll see!

Thanks though!
