Howdy,

I heard you can sprout grain and feee it to pigs.

Thinking of getting pigs for meat.

If sprouted till 6" tall or so, how much would the pig eat?
I currently sprout barley in smallish white dish tubs from dollar tree (number 5 plastic if you wanna know)

So would a pig eat 2 of thesw tubs a day and be all good?

I may have hay someday but it's a work in progress. Field is weedy and full of elms but getting there

Thank you

Meant to say i currently grow it for chickens (just as a treat)

Here is a pic of someone else's that is pretty much the same

I don't think 2 tubs of the sprouted grain would be a complete diet for a pig.

Probably not enough protein.

:idunno

Pigs need good fence, and would not get much nutrition from the pasture...

Pigs do great though on some scraps, and if you have milk goats, the extra milk....

Our Pigs have always been fed mostly pellets.

The least expensive meat I have ever raised was goose. If you have a lawn, the geese will graze the lawn and that truly will be maybe 90% of their diet!!

DDIL1 did the sprouted grain thing. She also raised it for her poultry. You can't raise enough of it except as treats for animals.
