Well yesterday I banded Storm and he is still acting off today. I normally band at 8 weeks old but he was a little small so I waited till he was 10 weeks old. After he was banded and I told him how sorry I was LOL, he laid around and seemed to be in a great deal of pain. Which is usually pretty normal, I know I would do the same. Today he is still laying around alot and just not acting right. He has not really eaten alot so he looks a little sunken in. When I fed him tonight I put hay in the creep pen and he gladly ate that so I felt better. I have seen him poop twice tonight so I know he is not constipated, but he acts as if he is pushing really hard and no pee or poop is coming out. Then once he relaxes he will pee a little. Is it possible that he is a little swollen inside from being banded? Or do you think a 10 week old kid that was just banded could get UC already. I am pretty sure there is AC in their feed. Is there anything I should give him. I gave him some probios just because he is a little stressed over all this. I do not have any animal pain meds are there any human meds I could give him for the pain?

I would start with an anti-inflammatory pain med. You can use liquid (human) children's ibuprofen at 2x the label dose by weight. Do not use more than 48 hours or it can cause liver damage. You should see an improvement no later than 12 hours out.

Well I gave him 2 aspirin about 5 minutes ago and if he is not feeling better in the morning I will give him some more. I just didn't know what was safe. Thanks for your help.

If you suspect UC, I'd be getting some Ammonium Chloride or Fruit Fresh in him, too.

Maybe drench him w/ some cranberry juice.

Hope he's feeling better tomorrow.

Wow, I hope he's better tomorrow. So far ours only complained for a little while, and were fine the next day. Guess I was lucky.

So glad to hear it! Some just take the banding a little harder than others.
