Catahoula
Overrun with beasties
Caught this pictures this morning while walking the goats... Check out Jac (spotted Boer)'s expression when Cody (Alpine) jumped on his back to reach for higher branches...

Yes, that's Walter...he is also a dappled boer. I love colored boers and feel so lucky to have found a few breeders in my area. I will be getting another one this summer. If all goes well, a black dappled.Canadiannee said:Gosh, I am in love with your spotted boer! I don't get to see any like him in my neck of the woods! Can you tell me about the other goat to the very left... another spotted boer?
Beautiful picture of a nice sunny day... I can't say I'm envious about your snowfall however!![]()

Jac and Walter are from Little Creek Farm in Lyons. The breeder is my mentor now. My next boer will be from Capricious Ventures Boers in Boulder. CVB has a 99% black dappled buck...just born Saturday night. Cute kid. I am looking for pets so I keep my eyes open for a wether...I am crossing my fingers for a black dappled wethers. Othewise, there is a nice deep brown dapple I'll get.babsbag said:I want a black dabbled ABGA buckCatahoula said:Yes, that's Walter...he is also a dappled boer. I have a brown one that I am going to breed to a black doe and
but without looking at her papers I am pretty sure that any buckling would not be high enough % to register so I am hoping she has does.
Do you buy from Little Creed Ranch?
When I first looked for a spotted buck I talked with the breeder from Lyons and she was extremely helpful explaining percentages to me and how you could register a percentage doe but not a percentage buck. It was very confusing at first. Now I am quickly approaching a point where my does are all offspring of my buck so I need to find a new one. This part of raising goats just kills me but when you are trying to get a specific trait and hang on to it it is a necessary evil. I would like to find a black spotted one this time, but they aren't that common.Catahoula said:Jac and Walter are from Little Creek Farm in Lyons. The breeder is my mentor now. I can't believe how much people are willing to pay for registered spotted boers and yes, black spotted is harder to find.. A few years back, red spotted was rare...but the black gene doesn't seem as easily bred out as red. Someone here in CO is selling three black dappled...but they are commercial. http://denver.craigslist.org/grd/3738199277.html I am crossing my fingers...I hope I get a black dapple this time.babsbag said:When I first looked for a spotted buck I talked with the breeder from Lyons and she was extremely helpful explaining percentages to me and how you could register a percentage doe but not a percentage buck.
