Tatli, Anatolian Shepherd

This. Relaxed puppy on loose leash, watching ewe. Daddy Buford in the background watching intently. It didn’t last long, but I got picture proof that it actually happened!

This morning Buford wanted in the middle field so I put him in it. Then I fed Tatli her breakfast and took her walking. With no Buford to distract her, she did much better. Tatli was more interested in the sheep, instead of following Buford around.

Buford realized his mistake and followed us from the middle field. Carson always follows up and down the driveway.

Tatli was more relaxed, I told her easy and wait. There was quite a bit of her on a slack leash instead of straining and keeping it tight.

The ewes were more relaxed and these came up to her on their own. She happily licked their faces and ears.

The black head ewe has been scared of Tatli, but stood still getting her face licked.

Cinnamon was a little wary, but Tatli found dirt to dig in. Nothing to see here, nothing to be afraid of, just a puppy playing in the dirt!

At one point on our walk, a ewe ran past Tatli and Tatli chased her—until she hit the end of the leash. I was on her instantly, rolled her, pinned her down and held her muzzle until she yelped. NO AAHHNNTTT! NO! AAHHNNTTT!

Then I let her up and called her to me. I petted her, talked baby talk and we did more walking. I started walking her back to get water and this ewe that has stayed far away, stood still, Tatli licked her butt, the ewe raised her tail. Sentry did this, he cleaned the ewes up after giving birth.

It was a good morning with Tatli. The ewes coming to her was a major step in the right direction.

I gave my puppy the wrong name. Instead of Tatli it should have been BRATLI. Yesterday evening when feeding dogs, BRATli wanted Buford’s food, straining at the leash, he was growling and snarling. I pulled her back on the leash and made her eat her own food, she did a little. Then back to trying to get Buford’s food. Snarling, upset Buford couldn’t even eat in peace. What did BRATli do? She stuck her feet in her bowl, flipped it over and spilled out her food.

Normally I have tons of patience, but that just got under my skin and I didn’t want to deal with her when I was mad. So I put her back in her pen. She started digging holes in her stainless steel water pan and flipped THAT over. I gave her fresh water. She went to town on that too. No water. I fed sheep and watered them, gave BRATLI fresh water and took her out on the leash. I pulled hay on the round bale, making it easier for the sheep to eat it. BRATLI played around the hay cradle, further enlarging the giant hole Buford is digging under it. Then she’d pop out at the ewes, almost like a child yelling BOO! And jump back in the hole. I wanted to strangle her, but instead I laughed. Idiot puppy.

Finally BRATLI got far enough from the hay cradle that a ewe, Scottie, plowed into her, sending her rolling over 4 times. She jumped right up, not scared, not submissive, not bothered one bit and wanted to play! Ummm, AAHHNNTTT! No playing with the sheep!

This puppy is fearless. No fear.

Time to call it a day, so I put BRATLI back in her pen. She was thirsty after playing peek a boo at the hay cradle, and got a good drink. True to form, she flipped her water pan over. I washed out the puppy mud paw prints and gave her clean water. As I was latching the gate, BRATLI flipped her water over AGAIN and started barking at it. I’m done, have a nice night BRATLI.
