Armchair quarterbacks...The kid did quit after less than 30 days of being there, damn. Anywho here is something pretty to look at. Wouldn’t believe how many professional house builders come out of the wood work out here that show up wanting to say I’m building it too strong or they know how to do it that they would help the homeowner for free to get rid of me that he should put oil based sealer on the sub floor

A house framed with 2 x 4's is built 16" OC (on center), every 16 inches is a wall stud, a house framed with 2 x 6's is every 24" OC. In a 32' long wall that is 8 more wall studs one has to buy, that is 2 inches less of insulation for heating/cooling, that is 70% more thermal bridging mass to make the structure less insulated. Don't get me started on structural integrity on how inept it is.Armchair quarterbacks...
House looks good to me. I'd rather build it too strong than too weak!
Those are trusses and are surprisingly strong. Redid a roof in Washington state on a mobile home that had a tree fall on the roof as in laid over front to back. Besides decking damage of puncturing the roof, only had to repair one or two trusses in a small area. It’s like comparing a 2 x 12 to a 11 7/8 I joist, may seem flimsy, but that I joist sure will hold more weight than that 2 x 12 will dream of.In Texas, extreme cold is not an issue. Only have to worry about a hurricane blowing it away. My doublewide mobile home is built out of a breath of hot air and a prayer. TWO BY TWO'S FOR ROOF RAFTERS!!!!
