I have told young couples that marriage isn't 50/50, it's 100/100. You have to be willing to give the 100.Sometimes the key to a successful marriage isn’t so much the falling in love part, as it is in finding someone who can put up with you.
I’m a PIA, but BJ thought I was perfect. Boy, was he ever wrong! But we had 25 years of happiness together.
I looked at the auction block, cows/bulls only so only option is the fair that comes once or twice a year.Butcher what you need for your freezer and sell the rest at auction. If yo advertise them, only do it for a couple weeks starting nw. Then load up the rest and take them to auction. Over and done in a day - just collect yur check. That will give you an idea of what they will bring private sale and auction for next breeding.
Even if I get a bit less $ and have to pay sale commission I find taking everything to the auction at one time beats having to answer calls from buyers wanting to dicker, strangers coming to the farm, taking up my time, interrupting my work day, worst of all no shows, etc. And you have to catch the animal and load it for them. In your case you have a lot of pigs to sell so after choosing the best for your freezer, and advertising for a coupe weeks, just take the others to the saleyard. Remember as the pigs get older, need more room, and you have to keep feeding them your profit mrgin can go down. And your workload goes up. Quick turnover at the right time makes a big difference in both $$ and your comfort.
