I went and picked up the building supplies for the house I'm building and got them dropped off at the guys house. Granted it was a 12 trip from the time I went and picked the supplies up till I got them delivered, but I seen his horse. This horse is in an area with no fence only two strands of poly wire electric fence to stop this horse and he going to get two more this weekend. It isn't even on tee posts in the ground other, it's one plastic stakes in the ground barely waist high. This is a tragedy in the making and an emergency on my end one day when they get out. One of the horses he is getting is around 1500 lbs he says and about 16 hands.
Winter is coming and this is compounding on a disaster already in the making.

Some horses are very respectful of hot wire! So if trained to it at early age they rarely test it. However, a shelter of some sort and 24/7 good hay, fresh water, is a must. Deep snow makes it non existent, however. With shelter & feed/water, they'll prefer to stay in that area but, training time for knowing where home is will be needed. It's a gamble with new area this time of yr

Animals suffer at the hands of idiots. This idiot doesn't even have a clue. Poor horses, it is a disaster in the making.
I hope by this weekend he changes his mind, though seems this might be set in motion already. Between the leaving here and by the time we got to the lumber yard he already changed his mind on house plans in the 4 hour trip there in which I had to do the mathematics and engineering while hauling a 40' trailer before we got there.
Went from framing the roof with attic space to flipping the floor plan around with added loft, using I-joists instead of conventional lumber so we can go from attic to cathedral ceiling. :idunno Swear this one is going to give me grey hair.

I'd be inclined to let the horses out during a particularly bad snow storm and somehow they end up at your place...
That would be a long way to lead a band of horses home in a snow storm. Doesn't help either that his place doesn't have a tree in sight, better be night ops. I already know you can't saddle the gelding yet, we will see on the other two. I try typing in more obstacles one would face doing that, but I keep finding ways around them.

Was hoping the wrench turning ran it's course, looked that way but......... yeah. Kid only 19 will be gone by April, wants to hold a steering wheel more than wrench turn. Can't fit in the places I can (in fact 95% of the American population can't) can't weld aluminum, can bolt parts on mostly, doesn't know the basics of using tools, though has a work ethic I admire. Time to raise my rates...
