So, the kids are a week old, the little buckling is much bigger, but I'm worried that Tia isn't feeding them!! They seen to always be chasing her, and trying to nurse, and the little girl especially cries. So tonight I thawed some milk and filled a Pepsi bottle and went out to see if I could get them to nurse. Little girl first, picked her up and she cried and I stuck the nipple in her mouth and she went to town. Nursed like she'd been doing it all along, took quite a bit. So, tried the boy next, he was a bit harder to get on, but also sucked down a fair amount. Back to the little girl and now Tia comes over very curious and nosing at the bottle, so I held it out to her to check out and she latched on and would likely have drunk the whole thing!!! This is the mother, supposed to be nursing her babies. I am assuming she was a bottle baby, but not sure. Anyway, I pulled it away from her and she wasn't happy about letting go. Gave a bit more to the little girl so I guess I will be supplementing. Tia's udder is not in the least full, can't tell if she isn't producing or they had emptied her but either way obviously she is not making enough for both. Will it harm Tia to let her have a bit of milk?
