That horned head cross oughta be interesting.
This is “Box of chocolates- you don’t know what you’re going to get” time. If the horn genes don’t work out it’s freezer camp, Racka are supposed to be a multipurpose breed. The fleece is intimidating and my knowledge of genetics is not the best. Observation this evening indicates that Mr. Tall, Dark (and fleecy) is drawing some interest from the ewes. Cue the Barry White. In the case of a couple of my ewes it’s Betty White. That horned head cross oughta be interesting.
I think so too. But Racka ewes lamb only every couple of years. Ouch.
Excuse me for not posting. Pics tomorrow. He is fine and the girls are getting curious about him. I’m concerned about no breeding but nobody seems inclined. I need to trim the remnant of fleece. I did get him wormed and he seems happy. He has a different body language than my sheep. He carries his head low when annoyed or uncertain but carries it high when he’s confident. The 6 month rams are shaking heads at him but retreating. He’s the big boy in the flock. How is Mr. Raka?
