I have five alpacas. All are studs, but we just don't have space/time/money to breed females. To buy a breeding female is 800-1500+ per animal. They are pregnant for 11 1/2 months. Also if we did females we would have a lot of fighting amoungst the boys. For us it's easier to just keep the boys :)

oh where i live you can find them for $200-$600 each....there was a free herd on CL a few months ago. People dont really want them here anymore.
