Here is a little introduction about us. Our children are in 4-H and wanted to show goats and use milk to make products to sell to raise money for camp and other 4-H things they love to do.

Last week we were gifted a 3 yr old Nigerian Dwarf buck (Mr. Buckey) from another 4-H member who has grown our of the Nigerian Dwarfs and moved on to larger breeds. So we bought a 5 yr old doe (Promise). We are in the process of getting everyone transferred to our name and getting us all registered and legal as well.

We built a nice goat shed for them and some great toys that will also give them some shade as well.

Since we have to register all goats that we will be showing we came up with a family herd name that they can use as they grow.

Here are some pictures of goats on the day we first got them (Mr Buckey 5-6-17 and Promise 5-7-17 IMG_2490[1].JPG IMG_2506[1].JPG IMG_2490[1].JPG IMG_2506[1].JPG . Hopefully we will be adding kids in October.

Here is Promise after a couple days (5-13-17) with us all cleaned up. Still needs to be trimmed up. We will be doing that this weekend I hope.

Welcome to goats! They are fun and just like chicken math!!

OH no!! that's not going to be fun to explain to the Hubby. We started with 4 chickens just for eggs and the kids to show. Now we have Show quality rare breeds that we are breeding and raising. The incubator has been going for 3 weeks and will be going for a few more to get some more from my roos before i change who is in what pen.

I already have the back half of the property just for the goats (which has plenty of room for adding more of them). This is going to be so much fun!!! Let the Goat math begin!!! lol..

Welcome to the forum! You have come to the right place! There is the best goat forum on the net right here on BYH. The members are the most caring, helpful bunch of folks that you will ever meet. And I can say that unbiased, I have sheep, not goats! LOL

We shaved our goats this weekend and started the hoof trimming process. Promise's hooves were not so bad, but Buckey's were extremely over grown and will need a lot of work.
The kids worked on their showmanship and getting the goats used to showing as well. They will be showing this weekend. We can't wait.
