We have a pygmy doeling that's ill, but I'm not sure what exactly it is. Since it's the weekend if there's something I can do until we can get her to a vet, I want to get things started and do what I can for her. I don't have the calendar here right now but offhand she's about 8 weeks. She's lethargic and has been sleeping a good bit today. She's been eating and drinking as usual and seems to still have a healthy appetite. She has some soft stool, but it's not quite diarrhea. As in it's still pellets, but they're pretty soft and mushy and still the usual brown color. No mucus or anything visible in the droppings or under the tail. She's been pooping and peeing what seems to be the usual amount for her. She's been vaccinated and given dewormer. When she's up, she seems ok, but sleeping more than regularly. We got her about 3 weeks ago and she's put on weight, but not quite as much as her "sister," who is 3 weeks older. No symptoms or signs of any illness in any of the other goats. No changes in diet. We did have some sudden changes in weather and the temperature dropped. When we noticed her being a bit lethargic this morning, she felt a little colder than usual, but now temp seems to be back to normal. When she walks, there's no signs of any injuries or discomfort that might mean she's laying around more than usual because of pain. Also doesn't seem to be in any pain to the touch when I've felt her for anything unusual in case she took a tumble while playing. Making the normal burping/gurgling digestive noises. I'm concerned about how lethargic she seems. Any ideas?

I have to find where the thermometer ran off to!
This seems to be new as of today, so haven't been able to take her anywhere to have a fecal done yet. We had a goat with cocci previously and she doesn't seem to have the same symptoms, which made me question if it was the same. Our buckling that had it dropped weight quickly, didn't seem to be eating/drinking much, severe diarrhea and no energy. She has no water/blood/mucus in the stools and they're not straight mush/diarrhea like they were with the goat with cocci previously. You can still see that they're pellets, just softer than they usually are. When she's up, she seems to have her usual amount of energy, she's always been more mellow, but after being up and eating/drinking/wandering around, she sleeps like she's exhausted and hasn't slept for days. That's been the pattern all day today. Like I said, she's always been pretty laid back personality wise, but today it seems like she's exhausted?

Get a thermometer ASAP. Take temp. That is the first place to start.

There are many myths surrounding coccidia.
A goat can have coccidia and never have diarrhea, never have mucousy stool, never have blood.
Sometimes coccidia may even cause constipation.

There is a strong link to pneumonia when cocci levels escalate.

Cocci may not even be the problem here.
Taking a temp will tell you what immediate action needs taken now.

Baby goats especially should have a fecal run 4-7 days after arriving at their new home because even though the goat kid may be healthy a bloom can and often does happen.
I f the breeder had her on a prevention that is great but follow up especially after a transition is critical.

102 exactly for the temp

Just checking- did it beep and you read 102 or did you wait til temp stopped climbing? Digital thermometers are not very good.

If a true 102 that is good.
Has she been vaccinated for CD & T?
If you have b-complex injectable you could try that
Nutridrench can be given if no temp.

Is she still on the bottle?

Was steady @ 102 before and after the beep.
Yes to vaccination.
I know we have nutridrench, so I'll try that.
No bottle. When we got her, she was self-weaned at that time and on regular feed already. Same feed here that she was getting there before, so there weren't any dietary changes, trying to keep things as consistent as possible
