Maybe portulaca or purslane? They grow low, and handle tough conditions.

We got a little rain today!!!
Hopefully more overnight...
Walking around the yard...
That canna lily sure grew tall, 5-6 feet is usually their limit.
I saw a lynx spider on my elderberry bush, looked like it had young. When I took a picture what I didn't see was its dinner...
That's a Fraternal potter wasp. Oh dear.
Here's another, on lantana:
Clouded skipper, a butterfly:
And pickerel rush, grows on the edge of the ponds.

Purslane - ohhh definitely worth a try and a healthy edible too.
Purslane will take over. At least it's a nightmare in our garden. Maybe there are different varieties?

I buy seedlings at the nursery, and it dies with the first freeze. It might reseed, the marigolds and morning glories do.

Morning glories are a curse... they get into the hayfields, the garden..... vines everywhere...
That's how I feel about purselane...lol
@fuzzi I have some I'll give you, every year, all summer long...

They call it bindweed here, I have it in the yard as well. But the morning glories behave themselves, mostly.
