Son and I set that hay bale Thursday, they need another one today, It is a small size, it doesn't last long with that many ewes eating on it.

Last night I made a list of ewes to sell. A few will depend on if they have ewe lambs to replace themselves to go to the next level on the breed up program. 21 on the list, 15 for sure, it is going to be a sad day. But that is several months off.

Sunshine had twin rams this morning. She’s on the list to go if she has a ewe lamb. No ewe lamb. But I have her twin sister who hasn’t lambed yet. So we’ll see…. If Patches has a ewe, it might put Patches and Sunshine on the sell list.

I had to take Tinkerbelle’s jug away from her to give it to Sunshine. I need to make something for her so she can be outside. At just 9 days old and no mom to look after her, I don’t want to just put her outside.

31 baby's now? 💗

But, she doesn't want to live in a jug, she wants to be a house sheep and keep snuggling with Carson💗...lol

Yes 31 lambs until this morning……

Patches had a single, a white ram lamb. So Sunshine and Parches stay another year. I was out of jugs, so I put Patches in with her twin sister Sunshine.

Lamb count 32.

While I was getting Patches and her baby situated, I heard a baby crying. I went to investigate. A newborn was in the pen with @Margali’s sheep! Only problem with that is none of them were pregnant. I scooped the baby up and set her down in the night pen. I walked the field checking the ewes for messy behinds of a fat ewe suddenly not fat. I was out of places to put moms and baby’s, but remembered where a half hog panel was and went and got it. I put it across a corner making a small triangle pen.

Meantime the ewes were at the gate, certain that I had feed for them. I carried the newborn to the gate, one ewe acted interested so I let her in. Her behind showed the evidence. Negligent mom, charged with abandonment and starving a baby. Sentence, 7 days in jail.

I lured her to the small pen with feed, closed her up and set the baby down. The ewe was B40, a White Dorper and she did not want that thing near her, she butted her away, knocking the baby down. Baby’s mouth was not warm, about to be a crisis. I got a halter and rope, fought to get it put on, tied up B40, plopped myself down in the dirt and pushed the baby to the udder. B40 kicked me, the baby and had herself a fight to the death fit. I was tempted to grant her wish, cuss words flew, I grabbed a hind leg, held tight and finally the baby latched on and sucked. I made sure the little one got plenty to eat. I spent a couple of hours on that project.

The lamb posse wanted in.

Finally had enough to eat!

IMG_0610.jpeg

I tied a chain link gate to the hog panels with my old friend, hay string. Then I tied a small tarp over it, Now they had a roof.

IMG_0611.jpeg

I kept Tinkerbelle fed and in an impromptu pen by unrolling wire in a semi circle, tied with…. You guessed it, hay string. I needed horse feed, fed her at 1:00, that gave 3 hours before I had to be back to feed her again. I put her in the dog crate in the house and left. I made several stops, got home at 3, fed Tinkerbelle and put her outside in the night pen to play with the lamb posse. She bounced, ran, catapulted, boing, boing, boing like a spring.

What’s this?

IMG_0624.jpeg

I brought out a bottle for her and she downed it. She followed me around while I did chores. It was getting dark, lambs went to their moms, Tinkerbelle found a suitable mom and snuggled down.

I picked her up and took her to the house. Tinkerbelle had a big day.

Every day is an adventure, sometimes torturous, but an adventure!

Love her suitable mom! 💞

I love this.

So, does Bad Mom stay tied? Lamb stay with her all night?
