I love the long ears on the nubians. So cute! My parents raised those for a time when they were trying to find dairy alternatives for my brother.

The milk and cheese was wonderful. I miss it.

Got a butcher appointment with a USDA butcher on 2/11. The bull will only be 22 months old. I would rather wait another 6 mos, but they are very hard to get an appointment with. Hopefully the quality of packaging will be worth the loss of weight in 6 mos. Highlands grow so slow anyway. Will see. Have not had quality Highland beef in the freezer for a while now. I'm splitting it with a co-worker who is going to help me load him.

I spent the Thurs and Friday fixing fence boards. Most of my fence is 4 board oak painted black. I did not do much to help it within the last year ( dealing with my partners health) so needless to say it needed work!
I had help 2 other people. 6 hours total. All the fence is fixed. Boards replaced And in the area where the cattle were putting pressure on the fence a brand new solar fence charger.
Tonight when I got home from work it was DARK. But I could see the sweet glow of the fence charger button flashing and I knew all was right with the world or at least the farm.

Just got in from feeding animals. I worked until 6pm. . Got a decent dusting of snow. It’s pretty. It’s very dark out.

Peacock roosting in the hay barn. He’s the smart one. I’m sure the others are out in the trees.
Two beautiful Meyer lemons almost ready.
