Looking for ideas to keep my goats amused. Please post pictures and any directions of play areas for your goats please! Lets have fun!
So far mine love the closed out garden but spring is here and time to plant the garden is coming soon.
TIA
Compared the ingredients, they are very similar with the exception of the phos-calcium ratio. They don't need the medicated right now they have been dosed for cocci, but will probably need for future permanent feed. Anyone with thoughts please share.
On the other note, Thank you, I think they...
Hello,
I have 3 werthers 7-8 wks old. They are eating hay and I have had a medicated goat feed available (from Farm & Fleet) they have not been eating the grain. Have changed grain dish, refreshed grain daily and feed does not smell 'off'.
Yesterday I was giving my mare grain (safe choice)...
Thank you, have seen the kelp at the feed store will pick some up. After reading all the threads I want to switch to the cow's milk mix but will have to do it slowly. Just worried, they seemed so weak when they came. Vet will be out again Wed. to debud and I plan to give the initial CD&T...
Thank you for considering my question. After I posted it did a lot of reading of old threads and see that there are things I could be doing better.
The stooges (yes, Larry, Curly, and Mo) are male Alpine goats from a dairy operation in WI. I was told they were 3 weeks old but the vet does not...
Hello,
I have 3 bottle kids and am a first time goat Mom. Long story short, vet has been out, given antibiotics all now very active and eating. On day 3 of Corid giving only 1.5 cc for all 3 goats once a day. Bottle said more (as did online but this is vet's dosage) kids are avg. 10 lb.ea...
Thank- you for your reply! Finally got hold of a vet and she gave us batryl and some bannamine for the lung inflammation. I know the farm that she came from and trust her implicitly when she says this just started. The breeder feels rotten that this has happened. We consider it just a small...
I have just traded a very nice Lowline weanling for my bull calf and must now transport her back to Illinois tomorrow. Here's the problem, she saw the vet 2 days ago for health cert and got her Bangs vaccinine also. Yesterday when I picked her up she had some clear nasal discharge, and some...
This is my first calf crop (moving over from horse breeding)
When I woke up this morning one of the heifers seemed to be in labor. Laying down breathing hard, seeming to push a little, then gets up and walks around then more of the same. She doesn't seem in stress. Had to go to work and...
Thank you everyone. I will go with the group consensus. The other heifer should have her calf any day now, as soon as that happens I will put them back together. They only have a single Hotwire separating them now. Will be back to update after the boxing match!
We have 2 heifers that were raised together. Immediately after giving birth one of them started fighting with the other. I understand this and we were right there and immediately separated them. A few day later I tried to put them back together because she no longer cared where her calf was...
I have been researching cattle breeds and what would fit in with my particular situation, as I am sure we all have. For my farm and situation I have chosen Lowline Angus. Here are the high points for my operation.
Gentle, can be handled with a minimun of equipment (and a joy to have around...
I am new to beef cattle (swapping from horse breeding) and have a small closed herd. What are the minimum vaccinations needed prior to delivery? Since my herd is closed and I would like to stay as close to organic as I can do we need any at all?
